For Dr. Maria Contos, exceptional dentistry begins with listening. Understanding what a patient wants, what concerns them, and what will make them feel comfortable is just as important as the treatment itself.
After earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 2010, Dr. Maria joined Contos Smile Center. Today, she practices alongside her husband, Dr. Peter Contos, and father-in-law, Dr. Aristides Contos, bringing her own perspective to a family tradition of care that began more than five decades ago.
Warm, thoughtful, and detail-oriented, Dr. Maria takes time to listen, explain options, and involve patients in their care. With a particular interest in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, she enjoys creating smiles that feel healthy, natural, and uniquely their own.
Dr. Maria's commitment to dentistry also extends into the community. In 2012, she created a partnership with the City of Chicago Department of Public Health to expand access to preventive dental care for thousands of Chicago Public School students.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Florida International University and maintains professional involvement with the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, and Hellenic American Dental Society.
Outside the office, Dr. Maria's favorite role is being a wife and mom. She and Dr. Peter are raising their two boys and enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, cooking, creating and crafting, and being involved in their children's lives.
